Time will tell if the build quality and performace will live up to the Domett name, but if the experience to date is anything to go by, we have nothing to worry about!
Having used a handful of different trailer manufacturers over the years, sisters and joint Directors, Jen Hall and Jax Smith, of Renwick Transport Ltd admit they are incredibly loyal to their suppliers. However when a well-respected and trusted truck supplier (they have used for years), suggested they should give Domett a go, they decided they would be open to change and reached out to to us.
Renwick Transport Ltd is a family-run business founded in 1993 by the late Ian Higgins. Ian is survived by his wife Karen and daughters Jen and Jax, all of whom play an active role in the day to day operations and management. Renwick Transport currently operates 26 trucks specialising in general freight and fertiliser transport throughout the top of the South Island, along with fertiliser application on farms and vineyards around the Marlborough region.
Having built a curtain side setup with Domett in early 2019, their next build was a 9 axle alloy drop side truck trailer combo that could be utilised for a variety of general freight applications including timber, bricks, wine bottles and more. Although this was the second build with Domett for Renwick Transport, this drop side setup was initially the brainchild of Ian’s, before Jen and Jax’s took over the reins upon Ian’s passing.
“Any apprehension we had to overseeing our first build were quickly put to bed when we sat down with our Domett Sales Rep to work through the build project. He was incredibly knowledgeable, 100% genuine and we could tell very quickly that he really cared about both our needs and ensuring we got the right setup for us and our operation. We were communicated with regularly through all stages of the build project and appreciated their patience and understanding around a couple of areas where we changed our minds on a few features.”
“The real icing on the cake for us was being able to take a tour through their Tauranga based factories and get a real feel for all the moving and integrated parts of putting a successful unit together like this one. One of the best parts of this tour was their purpose-built blast and paint facility which really gave us a much higher understanding of the importance they place on attention to detail and the finishing touches. Their paint facility was spotless and if you get a chance to check it out yourselves, we highly recommend it.”
“The whole experience for us has been incredibly positive and very accommodating. Thanks again for making our first truck trailer build such an enjoyable and successful one, we will definitely be back when we’re ready to do it all over again.”
